Our Vision
Memphis ChoralArts envisions a vibrant choral community in which each ensemble represents all communities in the Greater Memphis Area. Where children, youth, and adults of all backgrounds learn through participation in music, gaining choral skills provided through ensemble and collaborative performances.
Our Mission
The singers of the ensembles of Memphis ChoralArts are musicians as diverse as the Memphis community we represent. We are joined together to understand and perform great choral literature from masterworks of previous centuries to contemporary works. Our goal is to provide the best possible musical experience for our members and to present performances of the highest quality to our audiences. We seek to partner with other arts and service organizations in the Greater Memphis Area when the presentation of compatible themes can enrich, enlarge, and engage our shared audiences. Memphis ChoralArts remains committed to the goal of “Sing for Life.”
Our Guiding Principles
Singing Together: We value singing and believe in the potential of singing together—and the love of singing—to build bridges of understanding, inclusion, and empathy.
Collective Action: We value collaboration and belonging; we welcome the full diversity of humankind in our work as together we perform great music for our audiences.
Service and Learning in Community: We value service to our members and our audiences. By engaging the best in the choral community to serve as directors, we work towards continual learning and cross-cultural exchange. Through our Memphis Youth Chorale and Memphis Children’s Chorale, we strive to provide best-in-class choral training and education to students regardless of background.
